How to Make a Panasonic TZ3 55mm Filter Adapter

The TZ3 has lens collar diameter of approx. 2 1/8" .
I found an aerosol can top that worked fairly well.

The aerosol can top diameter is approx 2 1/4 ". The length of the top is approx. 2 1/8" which was about right considering the needed room for the lens to extend. I just had to carefully cut the end of the top off using a sharp razor knife.

I had an old 55mm filter and removed the glass by breaking it. Tape  just the ring on one end of the adapter using electrical tape. Be sure to position the ring with the screw threads facing out.

I wrapped the whole thing with electrical tape, adding a layer of tape inside where it attaches to the camera for a little extra grip.

The adapter should fit snuggly on to the TZ3, if it's loose you can add an additional layer of tape to the inside lip of the adapter.

The Raynox DCR-150 or DCR-250 close-up lens clips easily on the adapter as well as any 55mm filter.
